16 June is Youth Day, and to celebrate this Coffee Notes has partnered with IMBA. IMBA is a Film and Music Movement formed by Wandile Funani ka Mnqanqeni, a musician and songwriter originally from Medigen Village in Limpopo. IMBA aims to use its influences to develop Music and Television broadcasting skills throughout the country with more focus on marginalized communities. Their motto is ‘Arts, your weapon against unemployment’.
We at Coffee Notes believe that uplifting and empowering South African youth through training and social development is a powerful tool to unlock opportunities, especially within rural South Africa.
Our Featured Roast for the month of June is the East African Single origin Ethiopia Sidamo.
For the month of June, Coffee Notes will contribute R10 for every 250g bag of Ethiopia Sidamo sold, and R30 for every 1kg bag of Ethiopia Sidamo sold, to the IMBA movement to reduce poverty and unemployment by developing, recording and publishing the work of young up and coming artists from rural South Africa.
Keep an eye on our social media and this website through the month of June for more on this soul nurturing initiative, and subscribe to receive our newsletter with weekly updates and a link to a video "in conversation with Wandile and Shahen" to be released later this month.
